She was going on her first blind date tonight. She had been completely out of the game for so long, and it has been even longer since she had been dating men. She was nervous, and her hands were sweaty but her partner tried to keep her calm.
"It's okay Doris. You will be fine! You are a very sweet person and have the most wonderful personality. I know the gentleman that you are to see tonight and he also is very wonderful! I promise!" She grabbed Doris by the shoulders and stared her straight in the eyes.
Doris sighed, "I know Jane. It's just so hard. I do not want to blow this! And YOU know I hate blind dates! I mean why did you have to make it a blind date anyway?" Doris was all flushed red again, and slightly shaking under Jane's strong hands.
"Again, it is for your own good! I thought we had been through this before Doris." Jane sighed and looked into her partner's eyes. "We are partners, in ever way of the word. We work together, we live together and we love together, but we are both our own women too. You need this! Now go! Before you are late!" With that she shoved Doris out of the tiny apartment door.
Doris took a deep breath and climbed into the cab that was waiting for her. She kept telling herself that she was sweet, and kind and that she deserved the best and her partner would only set her up with the best. But she really did hate the fact that it was set up as a blind date.
When she arrived at the restaurant a strapping man was waiting by the door. He had piercing blue eyes, an amazing body and he was staring right at her! 'No way that can be him, no way.'
"Hello, Doris? My name is Jakob. I believe we have a mutual friend." He smiled and it was amazing.
She could do nothing but nod and allow this amazing god like man drape her over his arm and take her inside. She had never been to a place so grand, so extravagant before. And his presence just made made it surreal. As their food arrived, she smiled at him.
"Your smile is so sweet, and beautiful, it is uncomparable to any thing on this green world." He was completely enraptured by her, as she was with him.
The night continued on with light banter, and the couple getting to know each other. Doris was wrong about blind dates. This one was the best!
