Sandy was a single mum. She had split up from her daughters father before the child was born, and had raised her alone for the past 6 months. It was very tiring, and she felt quite lonely at times. She decided she needed another partner, and looked at some dating websites. As she was turning on the computer her baby called Rosie started to cry. Sandy sighed andwent over to her crib. "What's the matter little one?" she asked the baby softly as she gave her a tickle. Rosie started to chuckle in her sweet baby way. When the infant was settled, Sandy went back to her computer, and started once again to bring up the dating websites. As soon as she clicked on the first one, Rosie started crying again. Frustrated, Sandy picked her up, walked around the house with her, and put her down again when she was quiet. Back to the dating websites. This time, she managed to make herself a profile on one of the dating websites before the baby started to cry again. Sandy ignored her, hoping she would stop soon, but 15minutes later the baby was still screaming. Once again Sandy picked her up. "What's the matter now gorgeous? Are you hungry?" she asked Rosie, as she sat down and began feeding her. Rosie apparently wasn't hungry, and just spat milk all over her mother. Sandy sighed, wiped it up, and jiggled the child on her knee. She decided to take Rosie to the computer with her, to save her getting up again. She sat down on the computer chair, with Rosie dribbling on her shoulder, and started to type one handed on one of the dating sites. Two words in, and the baby started wailing. Sandy was so frustrated that she clicked off the dating site, and started to shut down the computer. She would never be able to concentrate if Rosie was crying! As soon as her mouse had clicked the 'X' to get rid of the dating site, Rosie stopped crying, and started jabbering in baby talk and laughing. Sandy blinked, and stared at her happy baby. She bought up the dating site again and observed as Rosie started to cry. She shut down the computer, and sat on the sofa with the now placid infant. "Well, she chuckled, I know what's wrong now! You just don't want me to go onto a dating site! You don't need a Daddy do you - we're doing fine by ourselves!" Rosie smiled, wrapped her little hand around two of Sandy's fingers, and snuggled against her chest. Sandy smiled, looked down at her baby, and stroked her head as she stated to fall asleep.
