Now That's a Story!

Let's talk about something universal today. Something that made millions of meaning but is still somewhat mysterious to a lot of us. To some, it is one of the most exciting experience in their lives. Unfortunately for others, it is heartbreaking when ended in a bad way. Got a hint of what I'm talking about? We will be talking about love.

What is love? Is it some kind of weird feeling and sensation going on inside our bodies seeing opposite sex? Is it more of the moment two individuals celebrating their feelings by passionately making love?

For me, it is much simpler. I believe that love is when you found the right one. When you know that the person you're with is the one you'll end up with forever. It's cheesy but hey, that's how I view it.

So how can we differentiate love from just a mere attraction?In my opinion, attraction is way way different from love. A lot of people in our society today ended up broken and separated because most of them just used their eyes in choosing whom to be with. In the long run, those beautiful, handsome and sexy features won't save their relationships. That's lust, not love.

There are numerous ways people find their "special someone". Dating is one of the most popular. All around the world, people date - men dating women, vice versa. It is cool that we have this, but nothing beats the traditional way.

So what's the traditional way of "dating"? In the Philippines, there's this old way of dating women, they call it "Ligaw". You befriend the one you like and see if you really are for each other. Most of time, it takes years to let a woman gives you her "Yes". First, you need to show her that you're deserving. It is a must to be good to her parents too. Most of the time they make decisions for their children. Yes it's far from what we have today but I believe it is pure and sincere.

Today, the more beautiful and sexy you are, the more you have suitors. It's so instant. We don't have enough time to think it over. I'm not stereotyping it, I'm just giving my opinion based on what the guys are telling me on their experiences on dating women. Most of them asks me for advice on how to have a long lasting relationship. I always say this... Don't focus on the outward appearance. Balance it. It should be at least more of the inside. Yes, it's cool to have sexy girlfriend and stuff, but if you're in to long lasting relationship, focus on their attitude and outlook towards life before their looks.

In conclusion, I believe that today's dating is an opportunity. Opportunity to have the time to know someone.. if he or she is for you or not. For men dating women, we must be wise and intelligent in dealing with this matter, if we want a good and long lasting relationship.
