Now That's a Story!

I needed my life to stay dating free. I was keen on studying when I was at school. I didn't have the time for a boyfriend at that time in my life. I got GSCE results in English Language, English Literature, History, Geography, French and Spanish. I went on to further education at college. There I took A levels in English Literature, French and Spanish. I spent a summer holiday in Spain. At age eighteen I started up my own business. I created books about French and Spanish. I also gave private lessons in French and Spanish. I was very popular with the eleven to eighteen year old foreign language students from my old school and college. I spent ten years building up my business. My life stayed dating free.

Then a recession hit England and in the credit crunch people had less money for French and Spanish lessons. I found it increasingly challenging to find the money to pay for the flat that was paying rent for. I didn't want my lifestyle to get worse. I felt so frightened of what might happen to me. So I decided to go to the travel agent and go on holiday. I wanted to visit a Spanish speaking destination. The travel agent said she had a last minute deal to Margarita Island in Venezuela. So I jumped at that chance. I told myself that I wouldn't have a holiday romance because my life had to stay dating free.

The flight was fourteen hours long and I arrived feeling tired and jet lagged. The hotel was five stories high. I had a double room with a sea view. The white sandy beach was lined with gently waving palm trees. I had a look at the excursions board and was delighted when I saw an overnight trip to Angel Falls. I booked a ticket on that which involved flying there.

On the plane I sat next to a guy called Tom. He said that he was from Lancaster. He chatted to me and told me that he was also fluent in Spanish. He said that he was on his trip around South America. I quite fancied him but it was in my mind that my life had to stay dating free.

We arrived in the rain forest and got to take a flight over the majestic looking Angel Falls. Wow! I felt so excited to see the white rushing water. It was such a pristine stop with green foliage all around it.

That evening I enjoyed a dance with Tom to a tune playing in our guest house. There was an aroma of the cooking in the small kitchen. We ate a delicious meal. That evening Tom kissed my lips. I didn't know what was happening to me.

When we got back to the hotel I could enjoy the island. Tom asked me if I wanted to become his travel partner. I didn't want to return to England so I threw caution to the wind. Off I went with him around South America. We ended up falling in love with each other!
